Aims and Scope
The mission of the annual Proceedings of Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv is to provide a professional platform for the conceptual understanding of libraries as strategic centers for preserving national memory, cultural heritage, and the nation’s intellectual legacy. The publication is an effective tool for strengthening active scientific communication, providing an open space for professional interaction and exchange of experience in book science and source studies.
The publication aims to promote historical and cultural heritage by fostering a favorable environment for:
- encouraging the exchange of experience between Ukrainian and international specialists across the humanities;
- disseminating successful strategies and innovative approaches to both traditional physical documents and digital resources;
- coordinating scholarly efforts to address current challenges within the library and information sector;
- aligning Ukrainian standards for information processing with European and international scholarly practices.
The annual's objective is to systematically publish theoretical frameworks and empirical results from fundamental and applied research in social communications and the library and information sectors. The publication's research framework focuses on a multidimensional analysis of the development of library science, bibliography, source studies, and book science, and their intersections with the broader humanities.
To achieve these objectives, the publication focuses on the following tasks:
- Disseminating completed scholarly works characterized by scientific novelty, thematic relevance, and practical significance for modern society.
- Engaging leading Ukrainian and international experts to facilitate the integration of Ukrainian scholarship into the global intellectual landscape and promote cross-border cooperation.
- Ensuring strict adherence to high standards of academic integrity through a rigorous, objective, and independent peer-review process.

The annual welcomes original research and reviews within the following thematic areas:
Social Communications Theory and Methodological foundations: information society and the strategic role of libraries within communication processes.
Library Science and Bibliography: National bibliographic resource formation, the transformation of institutional functions, and strategic library development.
Digital Transformation and Innovation: Implementation of advanced information systems, development of digital libraries, digital archiving, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in library services.
Book Science and Source Studies: The history of book, periodicals, and publishing; the scholarly description and analysis of manuscripts and rare editions.
Archival Science and Biographical Studies: Preservation of archival heritage, the reconstruction of institutional and private collections, and scholarly personalistics.
Collection Preservation and Conservation: Scientific methodologies for the restoration, conservation, and physical protection of printed and manuscript documents.
Sociocultural and Historical Context: The history of culture and art, and the critical role of libraries in safeguarding sociocultural heritage.
Scholarly Reviews and Professional Chronicles: Critical reviews of new scholarly publications and reports on significant professional events and academic life.
Types of Publications: introductory notes and perspectives from the Editor-in-Chief, original research articles, review articles: scholarly and critical reviews; professional chronicles, retraction notices.
