Archiving and Long-term Open Access Storage

The Editorial Board of the collection of scientific papers «Proceedings of Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv» regards digital archiving and storage as a comprehensive set of processes and measures aimed at protecting digital information and ensuring its accessibility over a long period. The primary goal of this approach is to provide readers with permanent, unrestricted, and long-term access to all digital information of the journal. The following key aspects are identified:

  1. Digital Storage. The full volume of digital content is stored on the secure cloud infrastructure of the Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv. Full-text articles in PDF format are available on the official website of the institution in the «Scientific Publications» section, which hosts the «Proceedings of  Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv» page with an archive of issues for 2012–2025 [access mode: http://www.lsl.lviv.ua/index.php/uk/fahovi-vydannya/zapysky-lnnbu-im-v-stefanyka/]. Starting from 2026, the materials of the scientific publication are also displayed on the specialized Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform in the «Archives» section. The use of two independent digital platforms ensures data mirroring and guarantees open access to publications.
  2. Digital Registration and Identifiers. The publication is assigned unique international identifiers: ISSN 2524-0315 (print) and DOI (prefix: 10.37222), which ensure the visibility of the journal in automated systems at both national and international levels. Furthermore, each article is assigned an individual Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring precise identification of the object and guaranteeing the permanent activity of links regardless of any changes in web address structures.
  3. Self-Archiving Policy. The journal supports Green Open Access. Authors are permitted to deposit the Version of Record (publisher's version) in open repositories (e.g., Zenodo, institutional repositories) and scholarly social networks (ResearchGate, Academia.edu, etc.). This promotes professional discussion and positively impacts the promptness and dynamics of citation.
    The publication of an article by the author in open access is allowed following the official publication of the article on the journal’s website (appearance of the electronic version) or the release of the printed issue of the collection of scientific papers. A mandatory requirement is the inclusion of a full bibliographic description (citation) and an active DOI link to the original publication. Self-archiving is carried out under the terms of the Creative Commons [CC BY-NC-ND 4.0] license.
    The Editorial Board does not permit self-archiving of:
    • Preprints (manuscript versions prior to the peer-review process);
    • Post-prints (manuscript versions accepted for publication but not yet formatted as the final publisher's version).
  1. Technical Support and Resource Stability. The journal's archiving policy complies with current Ukrainian legislation and the international recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ensuring continuous open access to scientific content. Technical support for the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform provides regular backup of the database and file storage in a secure cloud environment. The use of distributed information storage systems allows for the minimization of data loss risks and guarantees the integrity of the digital archive. The Editorial Board maintains a high uptime coefficient, ensuring the stable functioning of the site for the international scientific community. In the event of technical failures or scheduled maintenance, full access to the system is restored within a period not exceeding 36 hours.
  2. Guarantees of Sustained Access. The Editorial Board commits to ensuring the continuity of access to the «Proceedings of Vasyl Stefanyk National Scientific Library of Ukraine in Lviv» over a long-term period. In the event of unforeseen circumstances leading to the suspension of publishing activities or technical issues with the information platform, access to the scientific archive of article texts will be provided through repositories and open-access scientific databases, including the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine portal: «Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine» and the «Journals of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine».
