«Апостольський дух»: митрополити Андрей Шептицький та Йосиф Сліпий про Маркіяна Шашкевича

We discuss the interpretation of the apostolic ministry in the works of Markian Shashkevych’s based on thespeeches given by the Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky at occasion of the 100th anniversary of the poet’s birth (in 1911) and the Metropolitan Josyp Slipyj to honour the 100th anniversary of the poet’s death (in 1943) at his graveside. The analysis is performed in the context of the interpretations given by Ukrainian literary scholars, in particular those from the Catholic literary group.
