Подільський художник Ян Ігнацій Машковський: штрихи до творчої

The article is devoted to creative work of Jan Ignacy Maszkowski, an artist from Western Ukraine of the first half of the nineteenth century. It examines little-known album by the artist, which includes 30 watercolors depicting clothes of different ages. On analyzing works that are closely related to Podilia a less known page of the artist’s creative biography has been revealed, as well as his consistent and committed view of the history and culture of people. The article outlines the artist’s individual contribution to solving urgent problems of the time, his creation of the visual documents of great artistic and historical, scientific and cognitive value.
