The article lights up the one of the most interesting and saturated pages of literary activity of Mykhajlo Rudnytskyj — the criticizing. On the example of reviews on literary works of the Ukrainian authors of 20-30 years of XX c. The critical position of M. Rudnytskyj, his theoretical looks to the tasks of literary criticism, based on principles of critical liberalism and aestheticism is analysed. Traced a reception of reviews by M. Rudnytskyj at periodicals of that time, reaction of authors of peer-reviewed works — as an illustration of cultural, moral and ethical atmosphere of Galicia 20-30 years of XX c.
